September Is Suicide Prevention Month

  • Colorado teens face higher-than-average rates of anxiety and depression compared to national averages. The 2021 Colorado Health Access Survey showed that about 20% of high school students experienced depression, with many reporting symptoms of anxiety.

  • Colorado has one of the highest teen suicide rates in the U.S. In 2020, suicide was the leading cause of death for Colorado youth ages 10-24.

  • Addressing teen mental health in Colorado continues to be a major priority for both state officials and mental health advocates.
